Thursday 13 - Old TV Shows

A couple weeks ago, I discussed my 13 favorite tv shows of the moment. I also listed a couple TV shows that were no longer on air (Dr Quinn Medicine Woman and Smallville) and I thought I would list some more shows from the past that I enjoyed....

1. Dawson's Creek - I watched this show pretty much from beginning to end. I was around the same age as the characters in the show and a lot of it seemed to be similar to my life. I actually have this series on DVD...I had a gift card from my birthday and found it online pretty cheap. :) It was interesting going back and watching it now as an adult. It was awesome back then...a lot different now. ;)

2. Beverly Hills 90210 - The original! I started watching it fairly late...I think it wasn't until 1995-1996 that I started watching it. And back then I wasn't as OCD about catching up on old episodes (plus it was harder without the internet). To this day I still haven't seen all the episodes. But...I enjoyed it. Brandon was my hottie crush and I liked Andrea while she was on there.

3. Party of Five - You really don't hear much about this show these days but it was big when I was in high school. I didn't watch it as closely as Dawson's Creek but I tried to watch it when I was home. My favorite characters were played by Scott Wolf and Jennifer Love Hewitt. :)

4. Sisters - Anyone remember this show? My mom liked it so I watched it with her a lot. I liked Teddy and Georgie...they were my favorites. I don't think I watched it through all of the seasons because my taste started to move more towards "teenage" shows.

5. Picket Fences - OMG does anyone remember this one? I forgot all about it until I looked up "90s TV Shows" and it was on a top 40 list. LOL. I watched this one with my mom, too. I really like Kathy Baker...she was my favorite on this show but I liked Tom Skerritt's character, too.

6. The Real World - I watched this off and on as a teen. My favorite season was when they were on the ship for Semester at Sea. I so badly wanted to be able to do that (Semester at Sea, not Real World). I've always loved traveling...but...couldn't afford it! And now I'm too old...and still can't afford it. :P

7. Oz - I started watching this show after I started watching Law & Order SVU...because Christopher Meloni played in it...as well as several other characters I liked (like JK Simmons). It's kind of a brutal show but as someone who wanted to become a correctional counselor, it was interesting to me.

8. Roseanne - Such a dysfunctional family show...but I liked it. I love John Goodman. I do think the old Becky was more believable in that family than the new Becky the eventually had. Darlene (Sara Gilbert) was also one of my favorite characters.

9. Star Trek: The Next Generation - The ONLY Star Trek that I enjoyed. My mom watched this show a lot so I watched it with her.

10. Cheers - This was another show that my mom watched so I ended up watching it. Kirstie Alley is also a local (she's from Wichita, Kansas) so that was always neat to me. It's not like a lot of people from around here really make it big.

11. Buffy/Angel - I'm listing them together because one was a spinoff from the other. This was another show that was big when I was a teen. I mostly watched them for David Boreanaz (YUM).

12. Empty Nest - Does anyone else remember this show? I loved the five main characters. This was back when I actually watched sitcoms...which I don't watch often anymore. When I was little, I watched things like I Love Lucy, I Dream of Genie, Bewitched, etc. which were shows that my mom liked...and this was another one that I watched because my mom watched and ended up liking it.

13. Golden Girls - I LOVED this show growing up. Sometimes I'll still watch reruns if they happen to be on TV. Sometimes it was completely corny...but I liked the characters a lot.

Welcome to the Civil War!

My friend, Mark, does Civil War reenactments with 8th Kansas. Every year, a living museum in our area has a Civil War day. This year I was able to take the girls with me to see it. They had a great time! They each used their money from Easter to buy a digital camera and they enjoyed taking pictures, too. Here are a few of the pictures I took...

Ultimate Blog Party 2012!

Ultimate Blog Party 2012

I did this several years ago...gonna join in on the fun again!

So my name is Candi and this is my blog. I'm just coming back after a year-long hiatus so I'm a little slow getting back into the groove but hopefully life will slow down a little soon.

I'm the proud single mommy of two daughters: Aubry will be 10 in a few months and Ashlyn is 7 1/2. My girls are my life and I don't know who I would be if I wasn't a mom.

I just graduated college with my Bachelor of General Studies in Criminal Justice, Psychology, and Sociology. I love Forensic Psychology and Behavior Analysis. I'm really hoping to go to grad school but still working out the details of that.

Right now I am a stay-at-home-mom and freelance artist, photographer, and writer. I love drawing and painting and we do lots of arts and crafts in my house. I also love scrapbooking and organizing..2012 has been all about organizing my apartment. Oh and pinterest is great!

And that's pretty much me! Welcome to my blog! Click over and join UPB2012 if you haven't already!

WWTK - Week 52

Photobucket
Hosted by Mamarazzi, Queso and Crazymama

Wow...so I haven't blogged at all since my last WWTK. Things have been SUPER busy around here. Craziness. Hopefully I'll have some more time to sit down and blog later this week. But here are my IF answers for WWTK this week:

{one} If you had to be trapped in a TV show for a month, which show would you choose? - Hm. I think I will go with Criminal Minds. I would want to be a profiler. In another life (where I was single and without kids and could move to Quantico) the FBI is what I would have chosen for my career path. That's what I wanted to be back when I was in 6th grade. So yeah...working in the BAU on Criminal Minds. Or maybe a love interest for Rossi. ;)
{two} If you could be guaranteed one thing in life besides money, what would you ask for? - Oh that's easy: happiness for my children.
{three} If you had to name the most terrifying event in your life thus far, what would it be? - Another easy one: when my 3 week old baby aspirated and stopped breathing...she was rushed to the hospital by ambulance and in the ICU. I hope I never again have to face something that scary in my life. It's unbearable.
{four} If you could possess one supernatural ability, what would it be? - Ooh another easy one: invisibility! I'm nosy so I would love to be the ultimate fly on the wall. ;)
{five} If you could "uninvent" one thing in the world , so that it would no longer exist, what would you choose? - Hmm. Stupid stereo systems in cars that are way too loud. That's a pet peeve I have. I shouldn't be able to hear the car down the block from inside my apartment. UGH.

FUN questions!

WWTK - Week 51

Photobucket
Hosted by Mamarazzi, Queso and Crazymama

{1} What is your favorite Easter tradition? - Making sugar eggs! It's something that my grandma did with my generation when we were younger and now my mom does it with my kids. Here are two of my favorite pictures of my girls with their eggs (in 2007):

{2} Tell us about your Easter meal. - We have Easter at my grandparents' house every year and I'm not in charge of the menu at all whatsoever. I think we usually have ham, though. Oh and I think brisket (which I really like...since I don't like ham).
{3} Do you decorate for Easter? - We tend to make Easter decorations more than we actually decorate for Easter. So whatever the girls' craft projects happen to be...that's usually the only stuff we have out.
{4} Your Easter basket is not complete without.... - I honestly don't know. I kinda just "go with it" and see what I can find that the girls will like. There usually isn't a whole lot of candy...but I tend to get them one chocolate something. I'm not a big chocolate fan...but they like it. ;)
{5} Are you getting an Easter dress? - For me? Goodness, no. I haven't really gotten Easter dresses for my kids in a year or two. I haven't figured out what they're going to wear yet...I should probably do that!
